The Góra Kamieńska is with 386  m npm the highest point in the Łódź Voivodeship in Poland . It is located on the territory of the Kamieńsk commune and was artificially raised by the lignite mine near Bełchatów . Fajna Ryba is the highest natural elevation in the voivodeship at 347  m npm and 39 meters lower.

The spoil dump is located two kilometers west of the city of Kamieńsk and rises about 195 meters above its surroundings. The dump covers an area of ​​1480 hectares and has a volume of 1,350 million m³. The open-cast mining areas are located in the west on the territory of the neighboring municipality of Kleszczów .

The Góra Kamieńska is the highest point in central Poland. The area belongs to the geomorphological mesoregion Wysoczyzna Bełchatowska (318.81), which is characterized by moraine hills with a maximum height of 289  m npm .

history

Chair lift and ski slope (2010)

The heap was filled up from June 1977 to November 1993. Since then, charred areas of the opencast mining areas have been backfilled. The city council decided in 1999 on the current name. Between 2004 and 2006 three lifts were built. In the summer of 2007, the Elektrownia Wiatrowa Kamieńsk wind farm went into operation. The 15 wind turbines have an output of 30 megawatts .

Until 2012, the Kamieńsk-Orla Góra airfield existed on the north side of the mountain with an asphalt runway.

In addition to the wind farm, there is the Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji Góra Kamieńsk sports center on the northeast slope . It has four illuminated artificial snow slopes , a chair lift and two surface lifts . Its capacity is 3400 people per hour. Three cycle routes have a total length of 42 kilometers and offer two downhill routes with different degrees of difficulty. Additional offerings include a rail-guided summer toboggan run , slopes for quads , a go- kart track and three climbing walls as well as the infrastructure with a ski and snowboard school , ski rental and restaurants.
