Emma McKeon (born May 24, 1994 in Wollongong ) is an Australian swimmer . In the Summer Olympic Games was in 2016 with the 4-x-100-meter freestyle relay Olympic champion . In the 4 x 100 m freestyle and 4 x 200 m freestyle, she set world records in the relay .

Career

McKeon won her first World Championship medal at the 2010 Short Course World Championships: bronze with the 4 x 100 m individual medley relay by participating in the preliminary run. At the 2013 World Swimming Championships , McKeon won three silver medals: over 4 x 100 m freestyle with participation in the finals as well as 4 x 200 m freestyle and 4 x 100 m individual medley by participating in the preliminary run. Two years later, McKeon became world champion for the first time with her victory in the 4 x 100 m freestyle relay .

McKeon won four medals at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro . With the 4 x 100 m freestyle relay, she was together with Brittany Elmslie , Bronte Campbell and Cate Campbell with a new world record in the final Olympic champion. McKeon won a silver medal in the 4 x 200 m freestyle and 4 x 100 m medley. She won bronze in the 200 m freestyle discipline. In the 100 m butterfly, McKeon came in sixth after swimming the second best time in the semi-finals after Olympic champion Sarah Sjöström . After the Olympics, McKeon was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia .

McKeon won three gold medals at the 2019 World Swimming Championships . With the 4 x 200 m freestyle relay, she set a new world record in the final .
