The Góra Zamkowa (German: Castle Hill) is a mountain in Poland . It is located in the urban area of Cieszyn . With a height of 298 m it is one of the lower mountains of the Silesian Foothills . The mountain lies on the northwestern foothills of the Silesian Beskids .
history
Teschen Castle was on the castle hill . After the destruction of the Old Teschen in the 9th century, the place on today's castle hill was rebuilt in the 10th century. The castle was destroyed during the Thirty Years War and most of the ruins were torn down in 1838. The Romanesque chapel of St. Nicholas and St. Wenceslas , the Gothic Piast tower and the Gothic keep are preserved . In the 19th century, the Habsburg Castle with a romantic park and a brewery was built in place of the castle ruins .
