Gömürgen is a municipality in the district of Akkışla in the Turkish province of Kayseri . It is located 6 kilometers from Akkışla and 86 kilometers from Kayseri . Exact dates for the foundation of the village are not known.

Geography and climate

To the east and south-east of Gömürgen are the mountain Hınzır Dağı and the village of Ortaköy. Akkışla is located west of Gömürgen. The Uğurlu district and the village of Ganışeh are located south of Gömürgen. Gömürgen, which is 1400–1500 m above sea level, has a land climate. The vegetation is reminiscent of a desert. The reason for this lies in the constant overgrazing and disproportionate clearing in order to convert the land into arable and grazing land. This in turn is the reason for the danger of erosion in and around Gömürgen. Gömürgen has more than 40 wells. Gömürgen has the following Mahalles : Yeşil Mahalle; Cumhuriyet Mahallesi and Yeni Mahalle.
