Akkışla (1928 still Kuzugüdenli ) is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Kayseri . Since a regional reform in 2014, the municipality ( Belediye ) is congruent with the district (İlçe). All previous villages ( köy ) are now districts ( Mahalle ) of the municipality. The city is located about 60 kilometers northeast of the provincial capital Kayseri .
The district is in the north of the province. It is bordered by Pınarbaşı to the east, Bünyan to the southwest, Sarıoğlan to the west and Sivas Province to the north . A country road connects the place Akkışla in the west with the trunk road D-.260 from Kayseri to Sivas . The district is located on the western foothills of the Hınzır Dağı Mountains . In the west of the district, various small watercourses to the Sarıoğlan Barajı reservoir (also Çiftlik Barajı ) are dammed.
