İncesu is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Kayseri . Since a regional reform in 2014, the municipality ( Belediye ) is congruent with the district (İlçe). All previous villages ( köy ) are now districts ( Mahalle ) of the municipality. The city is located about 30 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Kayseri .

The district is located in the west of the province. It borders on Kocasinan to the north, Melikgazi and Hacılar to the east, Develi to the southeast, Yeşilhisar to the south and Nevşehir Province to the west . The D-805 trunk road from Kayseri to Ulukışla runs through the city and the district in a north-south direction . Eight kilometers north of the city, it meets the D-300, which leads west via Konya to the coast near Izmir . The railway line runs parallel to the D-805 from Kayseri via Niğde to Ulukışla, which has a stop in İncesu. The district is located at the northern end of the Hodul Dağı mountain range . In the northwest, the border with Kocasinan follows the Kızılırmak River . In the south is the temporarily dried up lake Çöl Gölü , other, much smaller lakes are the Sarı Göl in the southeast and the İncesu Barajı west of the district town. In the latter, the Kışla Deresi is dammed, which flows in an arc through the district and flows into the Kızılırmak in the north.

At the beginning of the 20th century İncesu was partly still populated by Greeks (rum) . In İncesu is the Ottoman Karamustafapaşa caravanserai , which was built in 1660 by Kara Mustafa Pasha .
