Sarıoğlan is a city and a district in the Kayseri province of Turkey .
Since a regional reform in 2014, the municipality ( Belediye ) is congruent with the district (İlçe). All previous villages ( köy ) are now districts ( Mahalle ) of the municipality. The city is located about 50 kilometers northeast of the provincial capital Kayseri .
The district is in the north of the province. It is bordered by Akkışla to the east, Bünyan to the south, Özvatan to the west, Yozgat Province to the northwest and Sivas Province to the northeast . The D260 trunk road runs from Kayseri to Sivas from southwest to northeast . The district town to the west of it is connected to it by a feeder. Another connecting road branches off to the east in the direction of Akkışla. In Sarıoğlan there is a stop on the railway line from Kayseri to Sivas. A foothill of the Ak Dağları Mountains extends to the north-west of the district . In the north-west the Kızılırmak flows through the district, in the south-west lies the salt lake Tuzla Gölü .
The Şahruh Köprüsü bridge from the 16th century crosses the Kızılırmak near Karaözü in the northeast of the district .
