Sarız (derived from Sáros , the Greek name for the Seyhan River , formerly also Köyyeri ) is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Kayseri . Since a regional reform in 2014, the municipality ( Belediye ) is congruent with the district (İlçe). All previous villages ( Köy ) are now districts ( Mahalle ) of the municipality. The city is located about 90 kilometers southeast of the provincial capital Kayseri .

The district is in the east of the province. It is bordered by Tomarza to the west, Pınarbaşı to the northwest, Sivas Province to the east, Kahramanmaraş Province to the southeast and Adana Province to the southwest . The D-815 trunk road, which runs from Pınarbaşı in the north to Kahramanmaraş and Gaziantep in the south, runs west of the district town through the district. In the east, a country road connects the city with Elbistan . The district is located between the mountain ranges Binboğa Dağları in the southeast, Işık Dağı in the south and Tahtalı Dağları in the northwest. In between flows the Sarız Çayı , which rises in the north of the district and flows further south into the Göksu .
