Götz Lemberg (born January 12, 1963 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German artist .

life and work

From 1983 to 1989, Lemberg completed studies in history and American studies at the Free University of Berlin and at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music with study visits to England and the USA. Then he started working as a light and sound artist.

He also worked as a composer and author and creates radio plays for the radio. His works were broadcast by Radio Bremen , HR , DeutschlandradioKultur , RBB , SWR , DLF, and by the Finnish national broadcaster (Yle). He took part in numerous festivals with his works.

What all his works have in common is the question of the constitution of reality through perception. Through a playful approach to concrete everyday phenomena and abstract forms, he creates spaces of experience that call into question the usual patterns and expectations of perception. In the space gained in this way, seeing and hearing can be seen and heard for themselves. Lemberg's work processes are derived from the topics of his work. Whether it is the translation of sound into color phenomena, the dissolving of writing into color lines or the transformation of architecture into color spaces, the works arise from the examination of the existing conditions: architecture, space or light.

Since 2012, Lemberg has devoted himself increasingly to the color and spatial phenomena of the spectral colors red-green-blue, as well as photographic work, including above all a conceptual examination of the rivers in Berlin and Brandenburg: Oder, Havel and Spree, which he presented in large-format pseudo-panoramas presented, which are composed of extracts from reality (so-called "cuts"), which were recorded from the middle of the river at regular intervals.

Lemberg lives and works in Berlin.
