Gülşen Altun

Gülşen Altun (* 1958 in Sivas ) is an Alevi singer .

Gülşen Altun comes from a musical family. She started recording her own albums at an early age. In the 1980s she moved to Basel , Switzerland. She has worked with singers such as Muhlis Akarsu , Edibe Sulari , Sabahat Akkiraz , Gülcihan Koç , Deste Günaydin , Arif Sağ , Mahzuni Şerif , Musa Eroğlu , Guler Duman , Mutlu Guler and Cangül. In 1988 the album Erenler Muhabbeti 1 was released . In 1991 she gave concerts with other Alevi singers all over Europe. The album Halk Ozanlari Avrupa Konzeri was also released .

Living in Basel, she was invited to the 4th Pir Sultan Abdal Festival in Sivas by the Pir Sultan Abdal Association from Ankara as a guest of honor . On July 2, 1993, when the arson attack occurred on the Madimak Hotel , where Alevi artists were staying, Gülşen Altun was walking in the center of Sivas and was stopped by the police. 35 Alevi artists were killed in this massacre.

Afterwards Altun retired to her apartment in Basel and only rarely took part in concerts, the last time at the Haci Bektas-i Veli Festival. In 2007 she reported back with the album Geldimde Gezdim , she presented her album on Cem TV and SuTv, among others. In 2008 she worked actively with the singer Sinan Öztürk .
