Gülgöze ( Arabic Ayn al-Ward ; Aramaic ܥܝܢܘܪܕܐ, Inwardo ; Kurdish Êwert ) is a Christian-Aramaic village in the Midyat district of the Turkish province of Mardin in the Tur Abdin mountain range .

Gülgöze is located about 79 km northeast of the provincial capital Mardin and 14 km east of Midyat. Gülgöze can only be reached by a mobile route from the west. Surrounding towns are distributed as follows - distances are given for navigable routes, or in brackets for straight-line distance:

population

Many Syrian Orthodox Arameans left the village and emigrated to Europe in the 1980s due to the conflict between the Turkish government and the PKK . Today the population consists mainly of Kurds , Mhallami- Arabs and a small part of Aramaeans. The population has been just over 200 for several years.
