Günter Breitzke (born June 29, 1967 in Cologne ) is a former German soccer player .

Athletic career

Günter Breitzke started his professional career in 1988/89 at Borussia Dortmund . Before that, he played for the club division SC Brück , SSG Bergisch Gladbach and, in his youth, Bayer 04 Leverkusen , SC Fortuna Cologne and his home club TuS Stammheim in Cologne.

In his first season at BVB Breitzke won the DFB Cup in 1989 after beating Werder Bremen 4-1 in the final . In the following years Breitzke was able to establish himself in Dortmund. The only subsequent success for him was winning the runner-up in 1991/92 , in which BVB missed the German championship just behind the tied VfB Stuttgart .

Breitzke then moved to the 2nd Bundesliga at Fortuna Düsseldorf , a year later to league competitor Wuppertaler SV . After only one season, Breitzke hired FC 08 Homburg in 1994 , which he left in 1995 for Wuppertaler SV. After three years in the regional league in Wuppertal and at Alemannia Aachen , he ended his career in 1999 with the Eschweiler Sportgemeinschaft , Sportfreunde Eisbachtal and then with SpVgg Arminia Cologne and the Cologne Police Sports Club .

Private

Günter Breitzke, who broke off an apprenticeship as a painter and varnisher during his time at SC Brück, is single, lives in Cologne-Stammheim and lives on unemployment benefit II .
