Günter Geisen (born February 20, 1959 in Oberhausen ) is a German pool player and trainer from Oberhausen. He was ten times German individual champion , nine times senior European champion and 1981 vice European champion for men in the 8-ball discipline .

Career

At the German championship in 1980 Geisen won a medal at a German championship for the first time with bronze in 14/1 . A few months later he was in Bern in 1981 Vice European Champion in 8-Ball . At the German championship in 1982 he became German champion (8-ball) for the first time and also won the bronze medal in 14/1 endless.

From 1983 to 1988 he was German team champion seven times with Rot-Weiß Oberhausen (five times in 8-ball, twice in 14/1 endless). At the individual European Championship in 1984 he was third. In the same year he was also fourth in the German championship .

In 1986 he was German 8-ball champion and second in the 9-ball competition, which was held for the first time . In 1987 he finished second again in 8-ball and won a medal in the men's age group for the last time. In 1995 he finished fifth in the men's 9-ball world championship . After he reached thirteenth place in the 14/1 endlessly at the German championship in 1998 , he switched to the senior age group, in which he has played since then.

At the Senior World Cup in 2000, he reached third place, won silver in 14/1 endlessly and gold in 8-ball at the German championship in the same year and became German team champion in the 1st Bundesliga pool with BC Oberhausen . In 2001 he became senior European champion in 8-ball, German champion in 8-ball and 9-ball as well as second in 14/1 endless, in 2002 he was then German champion in 14/1 endless.

In 2003 Geisen became the senior European champion in 8-ball and 14/1 endlessly, in 2004 he was able to successfully defend these two titles and also became European champion in 9-ball. He also won silver in 8-ball and bronze in 9-ball at the German championship in 2004 . In 2005 he became 8-ball European champion and German 9-ball champion . In 2006 he became European champion in 14/1 endless and won bronze in 14/1 endless, silver in 8-ball and gold in 9-ball at the German championship . After becoming the German 8-ball champion in 2007 , he was last European champion in 2008 (in 14/1 endless). In 2008 he was also German champion for the last time (8-ball). In 2009 he reached a quarter-finals at the German Championship for the last time. He lost this in 8-Ball against Heiko Müller 5: 7. Since then he has not been among the top sixteen players at German championships.

With eight German championship titles among the seniors, Günter Geisen is the most successful player in this category. The A-licensed trainer is also the state trainer of the Westphalian billiard association and trainer of the German billiard youth.
