Günter Hess (* 1940 in Würzburg ) is a German specialist in German .

Life

After receiving his doctorate in Munich in 1970 with Hugo Kuhn and Walter Müller-Seidel , he taught from 1981 to 1983 as a professor of German and Renaissance philology at the University of Göttingen . Afterwards he held the chair for modern German literary history II at the University of Würzburg until his early retirement in 2001 .

His areas of specialization are humanism and neo-Latin literature, cultural history of the 19th century. and contemporary literature.
