Günter Hirschmann

Günter Hirschmann (born December 8, 1935 in Burg near Magdeburg ) was a football player in the GDR. In the Oberliga, the highest East German soccer class, he played for SC Aufbau / 1. FC Magdeburg .

biography

Günter Hirschmann began his football career in 1947 at SG Sportfreunde, later at the Burg unit. In 1955, the technician moved to Motor Mitte Magdeburg , where he was able to fight for a regular position after a short time and was nicknamed "Mücke". In 1957 he was delegated with the team from Motor Mitte to SC Aufbau Magdeburg , which later became 1. FC Magdeburg . He played 330 point games (162 of them in the GDR Oberliga ) in which he scored 113 goals (47 in the Oberliga) for 1. FC Magdeburg and its predecessor teams until 1969 . He also played 25 cup games with 11 goals and 5 European cup games.

His greatest successes are the cup wins with the SC Aufbau in 1964, 1965 and the FCM in 1969. He advanced to the match winner in the final against SC Motor Jena in 1965 when he converted a penalty kick to a 2-1 victory in the 89th minute .

On April 16, 1961, Günter Hirschmann was appointed to the GDR national team by Heinz Krügel . The 2-0 defeat against Hungary was his only international match. For the GDR youth national team , Hirschmann had played three international matches between 1958 and 1965 and scored one goal.

After finishing his playing days, Günter Hirschmann became a trainer in the youth team at 1. FC Magdeburg. In addition, he worked as a locksmith in the heavy machinery construction combine Ernst Thälmann . Today he lives as a pensioner in Magdeburg.
