In the period that followed, he received several subpoenas from the Ministry for State Security (MfS) to “clarify a matter”. From May 1990, Johannsen became a member of the SPD district council of the Bad Freienwalde district and chairman of the committee for law-security-order, which mainly dealt with cleaning up the public service of MfS employees and SED functionaries who were burdened . Between 1993 and 1998 he was district youth warden in the Evangelical Church District of Güstrow . Since 1998 Johannsen has been working in the Evangelical Child and Youth Welfare Service Feldkirchen , a curative educational institution in Feldkirchen near Munich, as a social pedagogue in the educational service - since 2011 in the outpatient educational assistance (AEH) of the same institution as a social educational family helper (SPFH) and educational advisor (EB).
