Günter Pohl

Günter Pohl (born June 23, 1938 in Löwenberg in Silesia ; † November 29, 2019 ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and member of the Thuringian state parliament.

Life and work

Günter Pohl was married and had four children. From 1944 to 1952 he attended elementary school in Bad Langensalza and then began an apprenticeship as an industrial watchmaker. He completed this in 1955. In 1958 he obtained his Abitur at the workers and farmers faculty in Jena and Potsdam . He then studied for four years at the Humboldt University in Berlin , where he graduated as a commercial teacher. In this profession he worked from 1962 to 1990 at the municipal vocational schools in Hildburghausen and Dorndorf . In June 1990 he became head of department in the district office of the Bad Salzungen district. On November 30, 2019, the SPD Wartburgkreis announced the death of its long-term MP.

Political and social functions

In 1990 Günter Pohl became a member of the Thuringian state parliament . He was deputy chairman and treasurer of the SPD parliamentary group. He was also a member of the district council of the Wartburg district and was an honorary councilor for the district from 2004 to 2009. From 1994 to 2002, Pohl had a seat in the municipal council of his place of residence in Leimbach . He was deputy chairman of the Rhönklubzweigverein Bad Salzungen.
