Alfred von Böckmann

Alfred von Böckmann (born September 29, 1859 in Potsdam , † November 19, 1921 in Bad Wildungen ) was a Prussian lieutenant general in the First World War .

Life

As a colonel (since April 20, 1909) Böckmann was chief of the general staff of the XIV Army Corps in Karlsruhe . Böckmann was promoted to major general on January 27, 1913 and appointed commander of the 75th Infantry Brigade in Allenstein .

As part of the 37th Division (Major General von Staabs ), his brigade was deployed on the Eastern Front with the outbreak of the First World War . In the defensive battles in East Prussia , he fought during the Battle of Tannenberg and the Masurian Lakes . On August 15, 1915, he was transferred to the post of Chief of Staff of the 8th Army and then Chief of Staff of Army Group Below / Scholtz . On August 8, 1917 he was given command of the III. Reserve Corps and on September 5 of the same year he was appointed Commanding General of the XIV Army Corps. In his last employment during the war he was leader of the Guard Corps from November 2, 1917 until the end of the war . On September 30, 1919, his departure was approved and Böckmann retired.
