Günter Porsiel
Günter Porsiel (born January 3, 1933 in Vacha ; † March 14, 2017 ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and local researcher in his residential district of Döhren-Wülfel in the south of Hanover .
Life
Günter Porsiel was the first of three children of Friedrich Porsiel and his wife Erna, née. Burghardt, born. He grew up mainly in Bad Salzdetfurth . After an apprenticeship as a wholesale merchant in Hildesheim , he first worked in large companies such as Continental AG .
Party political work
From 1986 to 2001 Porsiel was a member of the SPD local association Döhren-Wülfel and served on its board for several years. Even then, he was particularly interested in senior work . From 1991 to 2000 he was the district's SPD councilor . For five years Porsiel was parliamentary group leader and also a candidate for the office of mayor . In 2000 he switched to the CDU, in whose local association he was also a district councilor. He was also the senior representative of his party and a delegate of the senior council of the Lower Saxony state capital Hanover.
Social commitment and activity as a local researcher
In 1977 Günter Porsiel was a founding member of the working group “Döhren is changed”. In the following decades he was very committed to the history of his hometown district Döhren-Wülfel and published his research results in several books. Among other things, Porsiel campaigned for the preservation of the historic workers' settlement " Döhrener Jammer ".
For 20 years, Günter Porsiel engaged also in the Committee on conscientious objectors in Kreiswehrersatzamt Hannover, as he was four years as a lay judge in the district court of Hanover active and eight years a lay judge at the Administrative Court of Hanover .
On August 15, 2006 Günter Porsiel was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his services to the welfare of his fellow human beings .
Together with his wife Loni, Günter Porsiel set up the Loni & Günter Porsiel Foundation . The purpose of the foundation is "to promote elderly care by supporting citizens in need of retirement."
Günter Porsiel lived in Döhren and had a daughter with his wife Loni.
In honor of Günter Porsiel, a street in the Hanover city district of Mittelfeld is named after him.
