Günter Schluckebier
Günter Schluckebier (born February 15, 1933 in Duisburg , † January 20, 2002 there ) was a German SPD politician .
education and profession
Günter Schluckebier was trained as a machine fitter from 1950 to 1953 after completing secondary school . After working in this profession until 1957, he became secretary at the German Trade Union Federation in 1957 and was chairman and managing director of the DGB district in Duisburg from 1964 to 1993.
Political career
Schluckebier joined the SPD in 1951. From 1964 to 1970 he was a member of the City Council of Duisburg. In 1970 he was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament, of which he was a member until his election to the German Bundestag in 1972. From December 13, 1972 to October 26, 1998 (seven electoral terms) he was a member of the German Bundestag . He was always elected through a direct mandate in the Duisburg II constituency.
