Günter and Ute Grass Foundation
The Günter and Ute Grass Foundation was founded in 2011 by the writer and graphic artist Günter Grass and Ute Grass, his second wife. According to its statutes, the purpose of the foundation is to promote art, culture and education as well as science and research.

Foundation purpose
The purpose of the foundation is achieved in particular through the administration, accommodation, exhibition and distribution of the artistic work of Günter Grass, the manuscripts of his literary work and the associated correspondence, insofar as they are not archived in other institutions, material collections, specimen copies of the publications of Günter Grass, his professionally oriented photo collection and many documents, certificates, prizes and medals that Grass has received during his life.
Foundation seat
The seat of the foundation is Lübeck . The premises available to the foundation are the secretariat in the front building, which Günter Grass moved into Lübeck since autumn 1995, and archive rooms in the courtyard building at Glockengießerstraße 21. Next door to the secretariat and archive, there is the exhibition of the Günter Grass House run by the Kulturstiftung Hansestadt Lübeck , which sees itself as a forum for literature and the visual arts, its office, shop and archive.
Executive bodies and management
The board currently consists of Ute Grass, Joachim Kersten, Per Øhrgaard , Bernd Schmidt, and Dieter Stolz. Until his death on April 13, 2015, Günter Grass was the chairman of the foundation's board of directors, which his widow now occupies.
The foundation's advisory board includes Helene Grass , Malte Grunert, Viktoria Krason, Torsten Stellmacher and Jörg-Philipp Thomsa .
Hilke Ohsoling has been the managing director of the foundation since it was founded.
tasks
The task of the foundation is the scientific processing of the artistic and literary work, the implementation of scientific events and research projects; the award of research contracts; Organization and support of scientific and cultural conferences and congresses, the publication of results from research projects, the award of printing grants, the support of the earlier foundations of Günter Grass (Foundation Alfred Döblin Prize , Daniel Chodowiecki Foundation, Foundation in favor of the Romavolks , Wolfgang -Koeppen-Stiftung and August-Bebel-Stiftung) and the support of other tax-privileged corporations that pursue purposes within the meaning of the foundation statutes.
Contract and cooperation partner
In addition to the exhibition in Lübeck, there are long-term working relationships with the media archive Günter Grass Foundation Bremen, whose main task is to collect and process audio and film documents, the archive of the Academy of Arts in Berlin, which Günter Grass holds all manuscripts up to and including " Ein Weites Feld " (with the exception of the volume of poetry “Novemberland”, which already belongs to the collection of Günter Grass-Haus in Lübeck ) and in which his correspondence is indexed, the literary archive Sulzbach-Rosenberg e. V., the Steidl Verlag in Göttingen, the Verlag Ch. Links in Berlin and many long-term partners, such as B. the translators and the foreign publishers of Günter Grass.
