Günter von Roden

Günter von Roden (born November 9, 1913 in Elberfeld ; † December 8, 1999 in Duisburg ) was a German historian and archivist and most recently the chief city archive director in Duisburg.

Roden worked intermittently from 1939 to 1955 in the archives service and was director of the Duisburg City Archives from 1955 to 1976 . Until 1972 he was the editor of the Duisburg research and until 1976 the editor of the Duisburg historical sources and the author of the two-volume history of the city of Duisburg as well as other publications in the field of the city history of Duisburg and beyond.

In 1968 von Roden was elected a corresponding member of the Historical Commission for Westphalia , from which he resigned in 1991.
