Günther Ziesel

Günther Ziesel (born July 7, 1941 in Graz , Styria) is an Austrian journalist .

The doctor of law started his work at ORF - Landesstudio Steiermark during his studies in 1960. He then worked in the internal political editorial department of ORF television. In 1974 he got a Saturday night broadcast with his entertainment show Tip . This Eurovision program was produced jointly with ZDF and SRG . The newly introduced ZiB 2 was also presented by him in the years 1975–1981. He was also editor-in-chief of the Styrian state studio until 1990 and state director from 1990 to 1994.

Since 1982 he has presented the Alpen-Donau-Adria magazine, which was broadcast on ORF until January 30, 2010, every 14 days in the Saturday program. It was an international co-production with RAI Trieste and Bozen, RTSI Lugano, BR Munich, TV Slovenia, TV Croatia and MTV Pécs. In this program in particular, Ziesel showed people connections across linguistic and geographical barriers.

Further broadcast series were the ORF press hour (1995–2002) and the Europa-Panorama (2001–2002).

He is an honorary member of the board of Special Olympics Austria and of Karlheinz Böhm's foundation Menschen für Menschen . But he is also active in cultural organizations. He is president of the Styrian Society of Friends of Music and the Graz Symphony Orchestra .
