Gurkan Uygun
Gürkan Uygun (born May 27, 1974 in İzmit ) is a Turkish actor with origins from the Georgian ethnic group . Uygun is best known for his long-standing role as Memati Baş in the series Valley of the Wolves , with which he is repeatedly associated to this day.
Life
Career
In 1990 Uygun began to play theater. In 1993 he moved to Istanbul and took acting lessons at the Dormen Theater, where he then also played in various plays. In 1994 he got roles in TV shows and films without getting any major response. His breakthrough came with his role as Memati Baş , the right-hand man of the protagonist Polat Alemdar (played by Necati Şaşmaz ) in the television series Valley of the Wolves. He also played in the two cinema adaptations of the show. With the death of the character Memati, Uygun left the show.
In 2016 he took on the leading role of Orhan Yarımcalı in the television program Kehribar .
Private
Uygun was born as one of five siblings in a working class family in Izmit, his parents come from Sakarya . He graduated from Lise ( comparable to comprehensive school in Germany ), then studied acting at the Istanbul University Conservatory and graduated successfully.
He has been married to Şebnem Uygun since 2008 and has a daughter named Mihriban Balım and a son named Ateş.
