history

On April 22, 1570, Krzysztof Głowa gave the instruction that a city should be built on the site of today's Głogów Małopolski, which should be named Głowów after him . This was the first Polish city to be built on a Renaissance-style plan. The center of the city was a square market with a side length of 168 meters. The city charter Głowów received a certificate from May 31, 1578 by Magdeburg rights conferred. After an attack by the Tatars, the city was surrounded by walls and the streets only led to the outside through city gates. The town's wooden church was consecrated on April 20, 1630. The town hall, also made of wood, was completed in 1636. During the partitions of Poland , Głogów Małopolski was part of Austria. In September 1939 the city was occupied by the Wehrmacht . The occupation lasted until the Red Army marched in on July 30, 1944.

On July 22, 1960, the connection to the rail network with a connection to nearby Rzeszów took place. As of October 30, 2004, 320 residents were registered as unemployed in the city of Głogów Małopolski and 909 in the municipality.
