The GA University of the Digital Society was a state-recognized , privately owned technical college founded in 2014 that specializes in courses for the game development and computer games industry. The locations were Berlin and Frankfurt am Main . After just one year, the university ceased operations in August 2015. According to the founder Thomas Dlugaiczyk, there was not a sufficient number of students for the third start of studies, which is why it was no longer economically possible to continue.
The sponsor was the GA Hochschule der Digitale Gesellschaft GmbH , in which the Games Academy GmbH and Klett-AG are involved. The chancellor was Thomas Dlugaiczyk, who was also the managing director and owner of Games Academy GmbH and previously headed the USK .
The university was represented at trade fairs such as gamescom . As of April 2014, the GA Hochschule offered two different Bachelor programs:
- Media Studies: Game Design and Gamification (BA) (6 semesters)
- Digital Art (BA) (6 semesters)
Linda Breitlauch was president of the university and head of the media sciences department when it was founded ; Sylvius Lack took over management of the university in the first semester. Anja Niesler took over the management of the Digital Art course.
The GA Hochschule worked with Crytek , Nintendo , Microsoft and Sony .
