The class GJ 9-14 were tender locomotives of the Danish private railway Gjedser Jernbane (GJ) for the operation on the 1886 opened railway line Nykøbing – Gedser .

history

From 1885 to 1886 A / S Gjedser Jernbane built the railway line between Nykøbing Falster and Gedser . Although it was already clear when the license was granted that the operational management would be carried out by Det Lolland-Falsterske Jernbaneselskab , the company procured its own steam locomotives.

With the express train locomotives, fast through trains were transported between the stations and ports of Orehoved on the Nykøbing – Orehoved and Gedser route via Nykøbing.

The GJ 9-12 were procured in 1886 with the construction numbers 952-955 from AG Vulcan Stettin in Stettin . The locomotives had all control , Ramsbottom safety valves , a suction air brake for the train conveyance and a handbrake on the two-axle tender.

Locomotives GJ 13 and 14 followed in the same design from the same manufacturer in 1892 with construction numbers 1300 and 1301 .

DSB S (I)

With the acquisition of the A / S Gjedser Jernbane built track on 1 January 1893 by the DSB (DSB), the six locomotives were taken over and given the series designation S .

The locomotives stayed with DSB until the end of the First World War , after which they were all resold to private companies.
