history
In 1990 Rainer Gläß and Stephan Kronmüller founded G&K Datensysteme GmbH in Schöneck / Vogtland . After successful growth, the management converted the company into a stock corporation in 2001 . In 2008 the company went public in the Prime Standard of the German stock exchange (ticker symbol GKS). In 2009 the specialist for mobile solutions Solquest GmbH was taken over. In 2012, the Services business area was significantly expanded with the takeover of the AWEK Group. In 2015, GK Software acquired the retail segment of the US-American cash register system specialist DBS Data Business Systems Inc. In 2010, Ernst & Young's CEO Rainer Gläß was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year award. In 2013, the Munich Strategy Group voted GK Software 3rd among the most successful German medium-sized companies .
The company has a total of fourteen locations in Germany , the USA , Russia , South Africa , Switzerland , Ukraine and the Czech Republic .
The company sells its products under the name GK / Retail Business Suite. This includes u. a. Programs for cash registers , office staff, branch merchandise management, storage device control, sales promotion , voucher management , automatic label printing , open scale and monitoring .
Since 2009, SAP has taken on sales for two and now five products , which has been global since 2013.

The subsidiary Eurosoftware sro was founded in 1997 as a subsidiary of GK Software AG. The company specializes in developing software for retailers. The head office is in Pilsen, Czech Republic .
AWEK GmbH , based in Barsbüttel, has also been part of the company since the end of 2012 . In addition to software in the retail sector, it also sells the associated hardware and support services.
In autumn 2017, GK Software announced that it would take over the majority in prudsys AG . The company, with locations in Chemnitz and Berlin , specializes in creating real-time personalization solutions in retail software. Here comes Artificial Intelligence used.
Furthermore, some of the international locations are run as separate companies: GK Software RUS in Moscow (Russia), Eurosoftware-UA in Lviv (Ukraine), GK Software AFRICA (PTY) LIMITED in Bryanston (South Africa) and GK Software USA, INC. in Raleigh (North Carolina) (USA).
