The Grupo de Média Nacional GMN is a media company from East Timor . GMN is based in the state capital Dili at Rua D. Boaventura 8.

Overview

The company owns the weekly Jornal Nacional-Semanário (short Semanário) and the daily newspaper Jornal Nacional-Diário (Diário Nacional).

At the beginning of 2017, the TV station GMN TV and the radio station Nacional FM , which can be received nationwide and also via satellite, were added.

Print media

The newspapers appear in Portuguese , Tetum and Bahasa Indonesia . The readers come from the local population as well as Portuguese and Indonesians living in East Timor . They are sold in Dili and the surrounding communities .

The Semanário, which has existed since 2003, has a weekly circulation of 1,500 copies. The focus is on interviews and topics of the week.

The Diário Nacional has been published since 2005. It appears from Monday to Friday and has a weekly circulation of 5000 copies. It reports on national and international events.

Radio station

The radio station Nacional FM broadcasts 24 hours a day on FM 101.1 MHz and can also be received in other Southeast Asian countries and Australia . In addition to national and international news, they broadcast their own entertainment productions and music. Tetum and Portuguese are spoken. Accordingly, the listeners are East Timorese and Portuguese in the transmission area.

GMN TV can be received via antenna on the frequency 591 MHz. Via the communications satellite Telkom 1 , GMN TV reaches all of Southeast Asia and partially southern China , northern Australia, New Caledonia and western India over the 3768 MHz frequency . It is broadcast 24 hours a day. Jorge Serrano is president of the television channel.

The program offers information, news and entertainment programs, both from domestic and international productions, dubbed or subtitled in Tetum and Portuguese. Self-produced live broadcasts are also broadcast.

In 2019, GMN TV had to cancel the broadcast of an interview with Eurico Guterres , one of the leading figures in the pro-Indonesian militia , during the wave of violence in 1999 after there were major protests against the announcement on social networks.

The station is located on Rua Dom Boaventura , opposite the Jardim Infantil park , in the Bebora district ( Suco Motael ).
