Gaëtan Bille (born April 6, 1988 in Soest , Germany ) is a former Belgian cyclist .

Career

In 2006, Gaëtan Bille won the Italian one-day race Trofeo Emilio Paganessi in the junior class . In 2008 he finished third in the Kattekoer , and in 2014 he finished second in this race. At the end of the 2008 season he drove with the Belgian Continental Team Groupe Gobert.com as a stagiaire , but signed a contract with the Continental Team Verandas Willems for the following year . After a year with no countable results, he moved back to the RC Pesant Club Liégeois . After moving to the Continental Team Wallonie Bruxelles-Crédit Agricole in 2011 , for which he won various international races, he drove for ProTeam Lotto Belisol in 2012 and 2013 . In 2012 he had his greatest success to date when he was awarded the UCI category 1.1. listed one-day races Grand Prix Pino Cerami won after a solo drive. In the same year he contested a "Grand Tour" for the first time with the Giro d'Italia , but gave up the race after the 16th stage.

In 2014, Bille won the Flèche du Sud , and the following year a stage of this race. In 2015 he finished third in the overall ranking of the Tour of Belgium . Also in 2015 he won the Giro della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia , in 2018 the Tour de la Pharmacie Centrale . He officially retired in 2018 after having had two difficult seasons. In 2016 his close friend and teammate Antoine Demoitié died after a fall. Bille himself had several serious falls and had problems in his last teams.
