Gabriel Cedrés , full name Néstor Gabriel Cedrés , (born March 3, 1970 in Minas ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.81 meter tall midfielder Cedrés was at the beginning of his career from 1988 to 1993 of the team of Club Atlético Peñarol . In 1993 the team became Uruguayan champions. That year he was part of the squad, but the championship round did not end until the beginning of December 1993. Other sources have led him to the ranks of the Argentinos Juniors since the middle of the year . For the Argentines he played in 16 games in the Primera División and scored four goals. In early 1994, Cedrés moved to River Plate Buenos Aires . There are 72 first division appearances and nine goals for him to book. In addition, he won the Copa Libertadores with the team in 1996 , in the final second leg he was part of the starting line-up. A career station at Boca Juniors followed from mid-1996 to the end of August 1997 . For the club from Buenos Aires he hit the opposing goal eight times in 28 first division appearances. He then worked at Club América until the end of June 1998 . The Mexicans have 20 appearances in the top Mexican league and one goal is in their statistics. In mid-1998 Cedrés returned to Peñarol and played from then until the end of 2005 for the "Aurinegros". During this period, the Montevideans won the Uruguayan championship in 1999 and 2003. Cedrés played a total of 219 games in the Primera División in this career phase and was noted 53 times as a goalscorer. In the Clausura 2006, River Plate Montevideo was his employer. In that half series he played 16 first division games and scored four goals. The Montevideo Wanderers signed him to Apertura 2006, where he was used eleven times (no goal) in Uruguay's top professional league. The last career station in the first half of 2007 was Deportivo Maldonado . The Southeast Uruguayans have made 15 league appearances and scored four goals for him.

National team

Cedrés he was part of the Uruguayan U-20 selection that took part in the U-20 South American Championship in 1988 .

On February 2, 1990, he then made his debut in the Uruguayan senior team . In the following period, depending on the sources, he completed a total of 27 or 28 international matches, in which he scored five goals. At the Copa América 1991 Cedrés was part of the Uruguayan squad and was used twice during the tournament. His last international appearance in the "Celeste" dated November 15, 2000, when he came up under national coach Daniel Passarella in the 0-0 draw against the selection of Bolivia as a substitute for José María Franco .
