Gabriel Rosenstock

Gabriel Rosenstock (* 1949 in Kilfinane, County Limerick ) is an Irish poet, prose writer and journalist.

Life

Gabriel Rosenstock was born in Kilfinane, County Limerick. His father was a German doctor from Schleswig-Holstein , his mother comes from Galway and was a nurse there. Rosenstock was the third of six children. After graduating from high school, he studied at University College in Cork . There he was a member of a group of poets from which other members, for example Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill , had literary success.

He is a member of Aosdána and works for RTÉ , for the Irish-language newspaper Anois and for Gúm , part of the Foras na Gaeilge company . Rosenstock primarily writes poetry, but occasionally also writes dramatic and epic texts. He also works as a translator. Rosenstock's books are often written in Irish .

Gabriel Rosenstock lives and works in Dublin .
