Gabriel "HeRoMaRinE" Segat (born July 4, 1997 ) is a German (with dual Italian citizenship) e-athlete in the StarCraft 2 discipline . He is four-time German champion in the ESL Pro Series and has been playing for the German team mousesports since November 2011 . In the course of his career so far (as of December 2018) he has won the equivalent of more than $ 100,000 in prize money.
Career
At the end of 2011, Segat was signed by the German e-sports team mousesports . In 2013, at the age of 16, he won the winter season of the EPS ( ESL Pro Series ) by beating Giacomo “Socke” Thüs in the final . He was the first Terran player to do this - the eight previous EPS seasons in StarCraft 2 won representatives of the other two StarCraft races (7 × Protoss and 1 × Zerg).
In the spring season 2014 he could not defend his title, but at least reached the semifinals. In the summer season 2014, however, he secured the German championship title for the second time. On the occasion of his WCS match against Grzegorz “MaNa” Komincz, the Tagesschau broadcast a two-minute report about HeRoMaRinE.
After the ESL Pro Series Germany was renamed the ESL Championship in 2015 , it took second place in the first edition. In 2016, HeRoMaRinE reached the semi-finals at the WCS Summer Championship.
At the end of 2017, HeRoMaRinE qualified via the Southern Europe Qualifier (in which he was allowed to take part due to his Italian citizenship) for the ESL Intel Extreme Masters in PyeongChang, which preceded the Olympic Winter Games .
After a relatively successful 2018, he was able to qualify for the first time for the WCS finals held at Blizzcon . There he retired, however, after defeat against the South Korean professionals Zest and sOs in the group stage.
