Gabriel Wüthrich (born August 28, 1981 in Echallens ) is a former Swiss football goalkeeper .
Player career
Gabriel Wüthrich began his career in 1999 at FC Biel-Bienne and after a year moved to Neuchâtel Xamax in the Axpo Super League . There he fought with his club in the following three years against relegation, but was able to complete 29 league games and gain first match practice as a professional. In the 2003/04 season Wüthrich played for SR Delémont in the Challenge League and was then signed by FC St. Gallen as a substitute goalkeeper for Stefano Razzetti . After two years and the commitment of Daniel Lopar as another goalkeeper, he left St. Gallen and moved to FC Vaduz in the second division. After a year he was pushed back to the bank at the Liechtenstein club by loaning him to Yann Sommer . At the end of the 2007/08 season he rose to the first division with Vaduz, but still had no prospects of a regular place, as the loan contract with summer was extended again. Wüthrich's contract was terminated by mutual agreement and in January 2009 he moved to the German third division club FC Carl Zeiss Jena for half a year , where he remained a substitute for Carsten Nulle . In the 2009/10 season he was a substitute goalkeeper at FC Lugano , which was runner-up in the Swiss second division at the end of the season. Gabriel Wüthrich was under contract with FC Luzern from July 2010 to June 2014 and was number two in goal behind David Zibung .
Coaching career
After his active career, Wüthrich stayed at FC Luzern and has been a goalkeeping coach in the junior division and a scout there since July 1, 2014.
