Gabriele Basilico

Gabriele Basilico (born August 13, 1944 in Milan , † February 13, 2013 in Milan) was an Italian architectural photographer .

Life

Gabriele Basilico studied architecture at the Milan Polytechnic and began to photograph the changing urban landscape in the industrial belt of Milan in the late 1970s. In the 80s he worked in France for DATAR (Délégation interministérielle à l'aménagement du territoire et à l'attractivité régionale) and documented the changes in the port cities of Europe. He became internationally known through his recordings from Beirut in the early 1990s. In 1996 he was at the VI. Architecture Biennale in Venice awarded the Premio Osella d'Oro . He had a solo exhibition at the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007.
