Gabriele Hiller (born November 21, 1959 in Kamenz ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) in Berlin .

Life

After graduating from high school, Gabriele Hiller studied sport science at the Humboldt University in Berlin and graduated in 1982 as a qualified teacher for sport and geography. She then worked as a research assistant and was awarded a Dr. paed. PhD . She then taught at several Berlin schools. At the same time, she completed a supplementary course in 1995 and 1996 and then became a councilor. From the 2017/18 school year she will again be teaching sport, geography and political world studies at a secondary school in Lichtenberg. [outdated]

politics

Hiller joined the SED in 1981 and joined the PDS with her party. From 1990 she was district councilor for Hellersdorf, Marzahn and Marzahn-Hellersdorf. Between 2001 and 2011 she held a seat in the Berlin House of Representatives for the constituency of Marzahn-Hellersdorf 7 . From 2011 to 2016 she held the direct mandate of the constituency of Marzahn-Hellersdorf 3 . She was chairwoman of the committee for European and federal affairs and media as well as media and sport policy spokeswoman for her group. In the election for the Berlin House of Representatives in 2016 , Hiller lost her direct mandate to the then AfD politician Jessica Bießmann , who was expelled from the AfD parliamentary group in the House of Representatives at the beginning of November 2018.
