Gabrielle Leithaug , also known by her stage name Gabrielle (born January 10, 1985 in Bergen , Norway) is a Norwegian singer who is under contract with Universal .

Career

Leithaug first achieved greater notoriety in 2009 through her participation in the first season of the Norwegian version of the talent show The X Factor , where she finished seventh. In 2011 her debut single Ring meg reached number one on the Norwegian charts . The single was able to achieve five platinum awards . In 2011 the song was nominated for the Spellemannprisen in the Årets hit category (hit of the year). The successor single Bordet was able to reach number seven.

Her debut album Mildt Sagt was released on February 24, 2012. The album reached fourth place in the Norwegian album charts. Her second album was released on October 11, 2013 and was called Nattergal - Kap 1 . A second part planned for 2014 has not yet been published. The single 5 fine frøkner , released on May 29, 2014, was the first song to hit the Norwegian charts again three years earlier since its two top ten hits . This single also earned her a nomination for the Spellemann Prize . In 2016, the song was able to increase its popularity internationally through its use in the series Skam on Spotify and also reach the top 10 of the charts in Sweden .
