The Galasjöån is a 22.5 kilometer river in the municipality of Örnsköldsvik , in the Swedish province of Västernorrlands län . It rises in Galasjön and then flows in an easterly direction. The Galasjöån flows through the lakes Trehörningen , Mjösjön , Valmsjön , Djupsjön and Lillsjön in quick succession . It then flows in a south-easterly direction through Flärke , before flowing into the Moälven at Gala .
In 1896 the villagers of Flärke wanted to straighten the course of the river through their village and lower its level, so 75 hectares of land were made usable for agriculture. In the course of the project, 21 wooden bridges were to be built across the river, the total cost was estimated at 18,000 Swedish kronor (today around 980,000 kroner). The work was put out to tender; it is not known who was awarded the contract.
