Mozart week
The Mozart Week is a series of concerts in Salzburg that has been organized by the International Mozarteum Foundation every year since 1956 around Mozart's birthday on January 27th . It includes orchestral , chamber and solo concerts as well as - rarely - opera performances .
The artistic reputation of the festival is based on the Vienna Philharmonic , who continuously play up to three concerts during the Mozart Week, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg or the Musiciens du Louvre , well-known conductors such as Karl Böhm , Ivor Bolton , Gustavo Dudamel , Nikolaus Harnoncourt , Marc Minkowski or Georges Prêtre , excellent soloists and chamber ensembles such as András Schiff , the Artemis Quartet and the Hagen Quartet . In 2013 the Mozart Children's Orchestra of the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation made its debut , and has performed annually at the Mozart Week since then.

From 2013 to 2017 the Musiciens du Louvre , conducted by Marc Minkowski , took over the opera productions. The productions from 1956 and 2013 were taken over by the Salzburg Festival in the summer program, see opera chronology of the Salzburg Festival .
Venues
The Mozart Week primarily uses both halls of the International Mozarteum Foundation , the Great Hall and the Vienna Hall, as well as the Great University Hall, in which Mozart already performed. The three festival halls of the Salzburg Festival , the Felsenreitschule , the House for Mozart and the Great Festival Hall , are used for operas and large orchestral concerts .
