Galeazzo Benti (actually Geleazzo Bentivoglio , born August 6, 1923 in Florence , † April 20, 1993 in Bracciano ) was an Italian actor .

Life

Benti comes from a noble Emilian family who went to Tuscany . At the age of almost twenty he made his film debut, initially as a draftsman and set designer; one of his first engagements as an actor for Sergio Tofanos Gian Burrasca marked out his acting path: the terribly silly and boring snob in his false modesty, which he embodied throughout his career. In addition to these film roles, Benti also worked for the radio and appeared in revues such as Ritorna Za-Bum (in the 1943/1944 season) alongside Alberto Sordi , in which he refined his type. Also under the director Mario Mattòli he played in Soffia so '… n.2 , one of the first successes of Italy liberated from fascism. Imputati followed ... alziamoci! next to Rossano Brazzi and Olga Villi and the following year Oreste Biancoli wrote and staged Un anno dopo next to Totò , in whose films Benti was able to play his roles most effectively.

In the season 1948/1949 he played in Milan at the "Medionalum"; Probably his greatest stage success was the caricature of a Scottish officer in La piazza in 1952 ; with its author Michele Galdieri he remained artistically connected. In the late 1950s he went to Venezuela for some time to star in television programs for Italian expats. Not until 1979 did he return to his homeland ( Ettore Scola had cast him in Die Terrasse ) and intensified his acting activities again, especially for the screen.
