Gamal El-Din Ahmed Mokhtar

Gamal El-Din Ahmed Mokhtar (born October 29, 1928 in Cairo ) is an Egyptian administrative officer, was a member of the armed forces of Egypt and first chancellor of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Alexandria .

Education and professional career

Mokhtar graduated from the Naval Academy in Alexandria in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science . Then he completed his training to become a captain . He then joined the Egyptian Navy and in 1957 was the captain of the first submarine that went on a dive trip with exclusively Egyptian sailors . In 1959 he took up a one-year master's degree in the Soviet Union , which he completed with a Master of Science . Upon his return, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Egyptian submarine fleet. In 1966 he moved to the Naval Academy and became its director a year later. In 1969 Mokhtar accepted the position of Inspector General of the Navy. At the same time, he started studying business administration at the American University of Cairo . In 1972 he was awarded the degree of Magister Artium there . After graduation, he became director of the Arab Maritime Transport Academy . Under his leadership, the university was certified according to ISO 9001 and developed into one of the leading educational institutions in Egypt. From 1973 he was a member of the management of the Pan Arab Shipping Company . He also worked for various shipping companies. 1978 Mokhtar took a visiting professorship at the University of Alexandria . In the same year he did his doctorate at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne . From 1983 he was in the administrative apparatus of the World Maritime University and from 1987 also a member of the administrative board of the University of Alexandria. In 1989 he worked on the Technical Cooperation Committee of the International Maritime Organization . In 2003, Mokhtar was the first Egyptian President of the International Association of Maritime Universities .

Act

Mokhtar is married and has a son and a daughter. He is particularly involved in the field of sport. Among other things, he was manager of the Olympic Alexandria football club . During the Africa Games in 1991 , he sat on the organizing committee for Alexandria and was also chairman of the Egyptian NOC al-Ladschna al-ulimbiyya al-misriyya .
