The Gamensee is located in the Gamengrund glacial channel in the municipality of Falkenberg in the Brandenburg district of Märkisch-Oderland between the districts of Krummenpfahl in the east and Gersdorf and Neugersdorf in the west. It is the northernmost lake of the Gamengrund, with a water level of 69.4  m above sea level. NN (measured before 1948) it is also the lowest among the lakes of the northern Gamengrund in the catchment area of the Oder . Like most of the lakes in the entire channel, it drains underground.

The lake is about 2.2 km long and slightly bent. Just north of the kink it is so reeded that it looks like two separate lakes. Unlike the better-known Gamensee near Tiefensee , which is recorded as “Jamsee” on maps from the 18th century, this northern one has always been called “Ga (h) mensee”.
