Gaoyou

Gaoyou ( Chinese 高邮市 , Pinyin Gāoyóu Shì ) is an independent city in the administrative area of the independent city of Yangzhou in the Chinese province of Jiangsu . It has an area of 1,962 km² and has around 820,100 inhabitants (end of 2009).

The Yucheng Post (Yuchengyi Post 城驿) from the Ming Dynasty (now a Postal Museum), the Longqiuzhuang site (Longqiuzhuang yizhi 龙虬庄遗址) and the Gaoyou Pawn Shop (Gaoyou dangpu 高邮当铺) from the Qing Dynasty are on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China .
