Lingtang

The "community Lingtang der Hui " ( Chinese  菱 塘 回族 乡 , Pinyin Língtáng Huízú Xiāng ) is a nationality community of the urban district Gaoyou in the administrative area of ​​the district-free city Yangzhou in the Chinese province Jiangsu . Lingtang has an area of ​​almost 53 km² and over 23,000 inhabitants (end of 2010), about a third of whom belong to the Islamic ethnic minority of the Hui .

Islam

The old mosque in Qingzhen village looks back on several centuries of history. In their courtyard are a ginkgo tree that is more than 300 years old and a pair of gold and silver osmanthus trees that are around 100 years old. Another indication of the age of the mosque are two large bronze incense burners placed there that date from the reign (1425–1435) of the Xuande emperor of the Ming dynasty . In 1995, a new mosque was built with domestic and foreign donations, up to then the largest new mosque in all of eastern China . Together with the old mosque, it forms an architectural ensemble that has developed into a religious center for Muslims far beyond Gaoyou and Yangzhou.
