The Garczynski or Rautenberg-Garczynski family , also counts , is an old Pomeranian noble family .

history

The von Rautenberg-Garczynski family is of the same tribe as the von Rautenberg-Klinski family and the common descent from the Rautenberg family (Hildesheim) is assumed (see Rautenberg (noble family) ). The exact time of the separation of the Klinski and Garczinski branches is unclear. During the time of the Teutonic Order, the Garczyn manor was owned by the von Klinski family: In 1526 Laurentius, Martinus Mathäus and Franciscus v. Klinski for her manor Garczyn instead of the property privilege from the time of the order, which is still written in German, a new property privilege in Latin. In 1481 the owner of the Garczyn manor was named Garczynski. In 1522 a Laurentius Klinski sits on Garczyn again. In the tax lists from 1570, Messrs. Johannes and Franciscus Garczynski are listed as the owners of Garczyn. From this point in time at the latest, the separation of the branches seems to have finally been completed.

In 1760 the royal Polish general Stephan von Garczynski is the landlord of the Bentschen manor (Posen). The counts of the Kingdom of Prussia entered the family with a diploma dated February 6, 1839 for the royal Prussian chamberlain Thaddaeus von Garczynski, since 1827 lord of Bentschen and Garczyn.

coat of arms

After splitting off from the von Rautenberg-Klinski family, the von Rautenberg-Garczinski family initially continued to have a white ram as a coat of arms in red (the Junosza family).

Only later did the family adopt the coat of arms of the upside down Sas ( Sas Pruski ): In blue, a silver arrow pointing vertically upwards, accompanied by a golden star on the right and left , and raised by a silver crescent that opens downwards . On the helmet with the blue and gold covers there are three silver ostrich feathers , covered with a horizontal silver arrow pointing to the right.

The Counts of Garczinski also bear the main coat of arms of the Sas Pruski family.
