Gardner Denver, Inc. is an American company that manufactures industrial compressors , pumps , blowers and other products for compressed air and gas, vacuum and liquid handling applications.

history

The company was founded by Robert Gardner in 1859 under the name Gardner Governor Company . It initially manufactured speed controllers for steam engines, and from around 1900 also air compressors and steam pumps for the oil and gas industry. In 1927 the company merged with the Denver Rock Drill Company to form Gardner Denver .

In 1943 the company went public on the New York Stock Exchange . Gardner Denver acquired several companies in the 1950s. In 1979 the group was taken over by Cooper Industries and further companies were added. In 1994, Cooper Industries outsourced the Gardner Denver Industrial Machinery division , which was then converted into a public company under its current name, which was listed on the New York Stock Exchange until 2013 . Numerous other takeovers have followed to this day, such as the takeover of Champion Pneumatic in 1997, Hamworthy Belliss & Morcom from Powell Duffryn in 2001 and CompAir in 2008. Gardner Denver was taken over in 2013 by the private equity company KKR . The company returned to the stock exchange in 2017.

Products are blowers, compressors, pumps including vacuum pumps , refueling systems , Lagertank- and tanker equipment, dry clutch systems , liquid ring pumps , rotary joints, loading arms, transmission parts , ejectors , safety equipment and high-pressure water jet systems (water jetting). Practically the entire spectrum of industrial sectors is supplied.

The Group's brands include CompAir and Gardner Denver. Gardner Denver produces further product lines as an OEM producer under the trade names of its customers.
