Gardno [ ˈɡardnɔ ] ( German Garden ) is a village in Gmina Gryfino , in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It is located 10 km east of Gryfino and 18 km south of Szczecin .
history
The first documented mention of the place as a garden came in 1234 when Swantibor , castellan of Kolberg , and the Kolbatz monastery agreed on the border between their estates. In a document from 1240, in which Duke Barnim I confirmed all goods and rights to the Kolbatz monastery, the place was counted as Gardeno to the monastery estates.
