history

Garham belonged as Hofmark to the Hilgartsberg rule , which after the death of Count von Rapoto II von Ortenburg in 1259 came into the possession of Duke Heinrich of Lower Bavaria . After changing owners, the rulership with the court brands Schöllnstein , Rannetsreit, Garham, Leithen and Oberngschaid was given to Hanns Ernest Graf Fugger , Lord of Kirchberg and Weißenhorn as a fief.

The Catholic parish church of St. Nikolaus in Garham is a late Gothic choir tower church, which was baroque in 1750 and extended in 1833/34.

In 1821 Joseph Eligius Graf Fugger zu Glött sold the rule to the Bavarian state. The formed 1814 kb gräflich Fuggerische patrimonial Hilgartsberg thus had only short existence and the last remnants of the aristocracy on the 1818 by the Bavarian Gemeindeedikt formed community Garham were extinguished. On May 1, 1978, most of the Garham community was incorporated into the market town of Hofkirchen (Danube) .
