Garry Trudeau
Garretson Beekman Trudeau (born July 21, 1948 in New York ) is an American cartoonist and comic book author . He became known through his comic strip Doonesbury . With daily publications in over a thousand daily newspapers worldwide, he has been commenting on the cultural and political development of his country for over four decades.
Trudeau attended Yale University in the late 1960s , where he published his first strips in 1968 under the title Bull Tales .
In 2013, Trudeau developed and wrote the Alpha House series for Amazon Studios about a political flat in Washington.
Awards
- In 1975, Trudeau received the Pulitzer Prize for Political Caricature for the series the previous year .
- The animated film A Doonesbury Special was nominated for an Oscar in 1978 .
- In 1993 Trudeau was elected a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
- In 2006 Trudeaus Doonesbury was awarded the Max and Moritz Prize for best comic strip .
