Garry Disher

Garry Disher (born August 15, 1949 in Burra , South Australia ) is an Australian writer .

In addition to prose and detective novels, Garry Disher also writes children's, youth and non-fiction books, for example on Australian history. He studied at the Universities of Adelaide, La Trobe, and Monash and was an Australian Creative Writing Fellow at Stanford University in 1978/79 . His first novel was published in 1987. In Germany he was best known for his detective novels, especially for the series about the professional criminal Wyatt and Inspector Challis. His crime novel Kaltes Licht (2019) was once again number 1 on the list of the ten best new crime novels in September 2019.

Disher lives with his family on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria .
